Baggy, Saggy, Nipples: The Effects of Breastfeeding
So..... everyone said that breast was best. Everyone said that it would be really difficult and you would have to tough it out. At times there was pain, there was blood, there was swelling, tenderness, thrush and a staph infection in the breast milk. The joys of nurturing a child from your body! No one tells you what happens afterward, you know, when you make it past the six month mark and you still are nurturing that child. Your boobs kind of sag. They have lost their bounce and just their general place up on your chest. Stretch marks were inevitable for me. Permanent lines that have shrunk into new crevices. And of course there is the nipple problem. I never knew I could practically step on my own nipples. They are so sensitive and have been stretched out with a baby suckling and indented with many baby teeth marks and little jaws clamping down during bowel movements. When the little one (now 14 months) climbs over me, he almost always gets an elbow down on a nipple because they are in the way! All of the nipple butters and creams are suppose to help, but don't fall prey to them. The only thing that has been soothing to use is organic coconut oil, so far it has been my cure all. After diflucian for a yeast infection of the breast, it was organic coconut oil that got rid of it! You want to talk about painful and inconvenient, confirm yeast in the breast milk and find a staph infection, take an antifingal and an antibiotic at the same time. So, the coconut oil saved me! Warm it, don't warm it, rub it on, and you can take it orally too!
